So, I propose that a thread, perhaps this one, become a central place to look if you're willing to run a carfax report for someone. My question is... should the actual report be posted here, or e-mailed? Personally, I prefer to e-mail or PM the report because I don't want everyone in the world (including carfax) to know that I'm running reports for other people. And I don't want to get requests via e-mail months/years after my subscription has ended. So, my proposal is that if you need a carfax report, post the VIN and an e-mail address here, or at least enable people to send you e-mail via your profile. Once you have received the report, you should post a note here. Of course if there is something in the fine print of the carfax terms of service, or this breaks a rule of this site... um... forget I mentioned it. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Roadrash has run quite a few for me But as far as a dedicated carfax thread goes, I don't think that carfax will appreciate that too much.....not much at all. -chris __________________ 18'' Ace Wheels • Pirelli P7000 SS Tires • Bosal Brospeed Exhaust • B&M Short Throw Kit • H&R Sport Springs • Euro Clears • cat delete • Rogue Engineering Clutch Stop • Modded Airbox • blacked out kidney grilles • Suede Headliner/A Pillars S52 CONVERSION UNDERWAY | | | 07-25-2005, 11:11 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Roadrash- sure this is not a clever scheme to have all available cars pass through your hands? What if I sent you a juicy '99 Black M series for 5k?? Seriously, how much is a lifetime subscription? Maybe we can pool support $$ and have that be a perk of being a supporter? (please ignore the lack of script red type that says "site supporter", that will change ) __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 07-25-2005, 11:30 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by schussey But as far as a dedicated carfax thread goes, I don't think that carfax will appreciate that too much.....not much at all. | I do believe it is illegal to be looking up VINs for people not that I really care. A carfax account is for individual or company use. Lookups are probably better done privately. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-26-2005, 12:36 AM | #6 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by 96cali How much is a lifetime subscription?
