Default E8x Rear Subframe Rust

Hi All, Just picked up an E87 1 series for the missus as a run about. Got it cheap due to a rotten rear subframe and thought I'd share this as a heads up to anyone with with an E8x 1 series or E9x 3 series that lives anywhere that suffers from rust issues as they share the same rear subframe. This could be a freak issue but as time goes on I think it'll become more common. This is a 2004 car, the replacement subframe was from an '07 and was still solid but starting to rust around the welds and it needed to be cleaned up and reprotected before fitting.
Pictures.....

The rotten one

The replacement, this was typical of all weld areas

I found that the cars that frequent carwashes, that do underbody washing are the cars that rust out like that.

It's a UK car but not a coastal one. They do salt the roads in winter but where the car has spent most of it's life has milder winters so we don't see as much salt.
