Default Rim fitment?

I know this is probably on the board somewhere but I am in a hurry and can't search at the moment and I want to jump on these ASAP if they fit, so if any one knows if they will fit please holla at me!

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pts/359379461.html

they are 17" m3 wheels...i would think they would fit, but i read on another posting for rims that it fits all e36 EXCEPT m3...making me beleive that maybe m3 rims are different, but i swear people have m3 rims on 318tis

i know that i know nothing when it comes to rims and fitment because i have never considered it....i never really thought about it all, but im making money at BMW this summer so i may pick em up for 300 if they will fit

Those are from an 330ci sport or something, not an m3. They should fit though. Good deal if you get them.

ok cool...i didnt think they were m3 rims but the ad said they were...but they look cool and i emailed the seller asking about condition of rims/size of tires/higher resolution pics etc

we will see...it is still tentative but i think its a good enough deal to investigate further and see what happens...thanks guys...

i was really busy at work and im never at my desk and i didnt have time to do a proper search but i wanted to confirm theyd fit before i contacted the seller...ill let everyone know how it goes

I've got those on mine.. I really like them.. The 8.5" rims in the back barely clear, but they do.

Excluding staggered OEM m3 rims, too low of an offset and require body work.

Correct! I never think of an M3 as a normal E36 or E46 car

So the e46 m3's 18's wont fit right? But the 17'sfrom the e36 m3 fit? even those 245's in the rear? I am thinking either a set of 17's off an e46 sport or the e36 m3's if they fit. What is the widest wheel and tire that can fit the rear of the Ti?

If your fenders are rolled and you have the right offset wheels, you can go as wide as a 10' wheel. But the most common is 8' or 9'.

The e46 wheels are a little more difficult to fit but it can be done, and any of the e36 M3 wheels will fit. Hope this helps.

Question

I am no talkin extreme liek rolled fenders- I meant with the car the way it is. And several of you mention "the right offset" I know a bit about wheels but Not much about offset.. how does that work? It changes with size? or width? I thought there was just one offset that was good for each car.. But the way you guys are talking seems like theres more to it. Like I thought all the 3 series used the same offset and bolt pattern which is why u can use them.. but like a 5 series I think has the same bolt pattern but different offset- meaning they dont fit.. ?

You are correct about your comparison between the 3 series and the 5 series cars. But there are a lot of aftermarket wheels and that is where the offset plays a big role. If you are just planning on using another e36 wheel (it does not matter the size) then you are ok with the offset and the sizes, you are ok s well with any e46 wheel exept the M3. In regards to bolt patten, all newer BMWs use 5 120 bolt pattern, older model like the e30 use 4 100. What look are you going for? this will determine what wheel you need to get.
