Looks good though. | | | 08-24-2008, 12:50 AM | #33 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Old thread Looks good though. I really need a serious fender rolling in the back before I get my camber straightened out. Love the wheels. I'd like to get a set of those. | | | 08-28-2009, 01:48 AM | #34 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Muncie Posts: 1 | resurrecting an old thread. Dang dude, how much power are you putting down? | | | 10-29-2009, 01:36 AM | #39 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | I rolled my rear fenders a while ago to fit some wider tires. The setup I have are the 17 x 8.5 5 spoke rims from the 2.8L Z3, and I was running 255/35/17 (I think). It looked bad ass from the rear. The rear would rub whenever the car bogged down from take offs. I eventually just saved myself the hassle and put the 235s back on. With the new turbo build, I'm thinking of putting the 255s back on, but I'll need to revisit the fender rolling to see if I can get more clearance. The rear fenders were professionally rolled out. They attach and arm onto the wheel hub which has a roller at the end and apply force to the fender. It provides more clearance by reducing the size of the lip around the fender. From memory I couldn't roll it any more if I wanted to maintain the stock look. I'll have another look at it when the car gets back. Another option is I may to get slightly stiffer springs, but I need to think it through how this will effect the ride of the car. Currently it's locked up in the workshop waiting for work. | | | 10-29-2009, 03:08 AM | #40 | Member Join Date: Oct 2009 Location: Virginia Posts: 80 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Are these the 19" Hamman's you posted about? I got ambitious and put 225-50's on the stock 15" wheels (Yok AVS ES100). They ended up hitting the Bilstein coilover on the inside front (wider near where the tire is than the stock strut). Unfortunately, I didn't have spacers available, so the old tires are mounted back on the fronts. 12mm H&R hub centric spacers are on order now --- unfortunately, 5mm won't work because you can't get the centering ring. Even without the spacers, the tires looked like they were not going to tuck entirely inside the front wheel well. Once I shift the entire wheel 12mm towards the outside I am sure there is going to be an issue. I'm going to call Conversion Techniques in Oakland to have them roll them if necessary --- and probably have them do an alignment as well. Nice work with the baseball bat, but I do not have those size attachments to attempt that job. __________________ David Killion 2006 BMW M Roadster 1998 BMW 318ti 2006 Harley-Davidson Street Glide | | | 01-11-2013, 05:26 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: Morristown/Waldwick, NJ Posts: 151 | Another thread resurrection! For the record, you can fit the M3 staggered setup on a stock suspension easily without a roll. I ran the 225/45/R17 fronts with the 245/40/R17 rears for a while. I recently swapped over to a different wheel setup for the winter that looks kind of silly on the car. Out of curiosity, can you roll the rear fenders without bending the flat lip on the fenders? I'd want to simply push the stock fender out another inch and keep it looking OEM in appearance. I really personally hate the super-rolled look I see on M3s all the time where the vertical lip is rolled horizontal to clean insanely wide wheels or low offsets. AKA, not this where the fender profile is destroyed: __________________ GFa: Parts, Powdercoating, and Powah | | | 01-11-2013, 05:29 PM | #43 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Looks painful __________________ | | | 01-12-2013, 02:23 AM | #44 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | I rolled my rears to make room for the style 5 wheels. There is a lip inside of the wheel well...just rolled it up flush with the flare and ya can't even tell. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
