Unhappy Both fogs out

I put h1 bulbs in my fogs around the end of January and they already went out. Do you guys think that they both burnt out at the same time or could a connection have come loose? Is there a way to check if the bulbs work using a batery or something? Thanks for any help.

the bulbs can be checked using 12volt. get a little bit of wire and hook it up to the battery.

and i have heard that the fogs like to short out and can cause them to stop working. try testing to see if the wires are even getting power first and check fuses

i know for a fact that if you use OEM fog lights you WILL need a relay

yea if one of the fogs wiring comes loose both will go off. It could be a fuse too.

Where are the fuses located? I will check the bulbs tonight or tomorrow to see if one of them blew. And I will also check the connections.

the fuses for the fog lights should be in the engine compartment. on the driver side close to the firewall. its a black box pop that cover off and your good to go.

Thanks Chicken! Haha......chicken.

I'm gonna go check everything out right now, and hopefully I'll find the cause of the problem.

Ok....
All the fuses are fine and both of the filaments in the bulbs are destroyed.
Why are both of them blown up? Shouldn't the fuses stop a surcharged in power?
If one bulbs goes out does all the power get redirected to the functioning bulb?

no problem. and ummm

i would guess myabe they did blow because of a surge in power and the fuse didnt do its job.

or possibly the bulbs blew out at the same time.

hmm

They must have gone out at the same time.... At least i didn't notice rolling around with one light out.

Should I buy some new H1's, or should I buy new fuses and then get more H1's?

K, I bought some new bulbs (the exact same type as before). The are Sylvania Silverstar H1 ST's. And the run at 12volts and 55watts.
Has anybody else used these bulbs? Is there anything I can do to prevent them from frying again? I'm pretty sure they won't give me two more bulbs for free!

check the wires to make sure the insulation on them are all good and there isnt any metal poking through the wires and no place for the wires to rub against and rip open

You sure you have the right fuse in the spot? If you have a fuse made for higher amps than what's needed it wouldn't stop the bulbs blowing.
