I've got a fine condition 1998 318ti, which some dickless m-f'er ripped the sticker portion off of my emblem. Now I need to figure out how to remove the old one and install the new one. | | | 02-26-2009, 08:12 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | if you got a new one - just pry off the old one. it is held on by 2 prongs (just like the hood one)... or you may take off the inside trunk trim & do it properly if you need to save it. __________________ SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD! I can just break the old one off, then push the prongs of the new one right into the 2 holes? I don't want to damage the body by tearing the old piece off. | | | 02-26-2009, 08:17 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Houston TX Posts: 309 | just be careful by trying to pry it off. I did it with the hood emblem and the two prongs broke and stayed inside the holes. | | | 02-26-2009, 08:34 PM | #5 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! A bit of masking tape on the paint won't hurt either... | | | 02-26-2009, 08:35 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | Quote: Originally Posted by 713bmw318ti just be careful by trying to pry it off. It's best if you use 2 (1 on each side). Then pry it evenly with 2 flat heads. You shouldn't really have a problem with the grommets. It's not as hard as people make it out to be. I've replaced quite a few of them on many bimmers. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. (im not joking btw.. haha.. it came off alot easier, and no need to worrie about scratching visible paint. __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect! My roundel on the front looks great, I replaced it last year. The one on the hatch is original though and it's starting to peel and bubble in some places. It's not very bad yet though and I'm resisting the urge to drop $20 on a new one. How much are you guys willing to put up with? __________________ | | | 02-26-2009, 10:17 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by DaedHead8 Just out of curiosity, how bad does your roundel have to get before you replace it? If funds are plentiful, then go ahead. I got the black and white carbon fiber. It really looks nice. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36.
