Default Head unit removal

I have an aftermarket head unit. It is made by Pyle with a 7" flip up display. I'm trying to take it out and figure out why my radio reception is so poor. I cannot find out how to remove it for the life of me.

Any help?

Just slipped it partially out.

How do I get the whole HVAC bezel out now?

I'm thinking I also had a few screws on that faceplate of my aftermarket.
Then it all slide out.

I wonder if there is a nut behind the radio holding it to the chassis?

I slipped a zip tie into the sides and it unclipped the whole thing. Now I found the HVAC bulb I was looking for. It was burnt out, so time for a new one...

Wanted to do some tidying up on my part on the head unit now. I have bad radio reception all around town now. Please help guys!

Is this my OEM plug to the head unit?

I assume this is my aftermarket harness?

What is this coaxial plug and where should it connect to?

This is my blue power antenna wire. It is wired to something in the harness.

I'm working on shortening up my aftermarket harness and soldering the connections. What else can I do to improve my reception? Does the coaxial plug play a role?

My guess is that your poor reception is being caused by a poor antenna connection at the radio. My was. Take a close look at the male antenna plug. I remember a single copper strand of wire that that you may have to move around a bit to get a better connection. That coaxial cable may be the antenna cable. If it is, try taking the coax plug apart, looking for loose connections and that strand of copper wire I referred to above. Sorry for the vague explanation; it's been awhile since I fixed mine. John

Will do!

Well, I spent hours removing electrical tape and shortening up my wiring harness. I also soldered all my wires together instead of using electrical tape. It should tuck behind nicely and not have any worry of pulling loose any wires.

Once I get my HVAC bulb, I'll reinstall everything. I really hope the dealer has the bulb so I don't have to wait a week to order it.

I also have a Blaupunkt Santa Monica CD30 as an extra head unit with the car. It doesn't have a wiring harness to go with it though.

The Coax Cable goes to the Antenna receptacle on your Radio.

Thanks.

I've got it all figured out now besides one wire. What do I do with the orange wire on both the BMW adapter and head unit harness? It wasn't connected and I'm wondering if it should be.

I also decided to get rid of my Pyle unit and reinstall the Blaupunkt one. The Pyle one is too clunky and big...absolutely useless to me. I'm just waiting for a new harness for the Blaupunkt head unit now. I still get CD and aux input so I'm happy.

The coax cable is to the antenna. If it wasn't plugged in, that would explain why you were getting bad reception.

I think the orange cable is for the light dimmer. Connect it and see what happens.

There is a amplifier for the radio in the left rear under the antenna, it needs power to work right... At least there is one in my 95...
