Default Looking at a TI tomorrow...

Sister needs a car, has a shoestring budget.

I've been slumming it on craigslist and what do I see:

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...682409890.html

I hate to do it, but I think I'm going to have to offer low.

I can has seatz if you purchase?

Haha, I've been looking for some leather/cloth seats to swap for my cloth ones.

It looks like a pretty decent car though. He might want more because he just replaced those items but toss out whatever offer you can and make sure to mention cash, cuz it's still a 13 year old car with 160k and an auto...you never know...

I'm willing to bet the cylinder head wasn't replaced, just the head gasket. Looks like it's in decent shape even though its a slushbox.

I'll be seeing it in about a half hour.

I'm looking at:

Window regulators, rear shock mounts, engine under load, shifting, suspension, ac, etc etc etc.

Anything else I should be specifically looking for? (I forget, heh)

I don't know what to think.

The interior is gorgeous, beautiful black. The suspension and drivetrain is in great condition... but...

I pulled codes. 1286. Knock sensor codes. This makes me wary, especially since he claims that he just had the top end of the engine rebuilt. I pulled the battery for a minute, then drove it around (60+) and the code didn't return, but I'm still concerned it was even there.

The fuel gauge is not working, probably the sender.

This is a base ti, no OBC (but it has factory fogs), no lsd. no leather-wrapped steering wheel.

I'm thinking of of offering him $3000 for it, if I want it at all. Should I go for it? Or stay way, way far away...
