I bought it on Sept. 4 of this year and am completely in love with it!!! I guess I first wanna say this forum looks amazing. Just reading through it a little bit I've learned a lot!! I hope my forum etiquette is alright for everybody, i'm not sure how formal these things get. Anyway, just want to give a 'thank you' to everybody and hopefully i'll learn a thing or 2!! My first question is how to install a kenwood stereo. I've pulled out the old one and i have the 'required wiring harness' (at least that's what crutchfield said). I've soldered the wires together but I only get power, nothing else, not even a hum in the speakers. Am i missing something or should i just do a guess/check method for all the wires? I'd really appreciate any advice! thanks again! If you have the adapter for a BMW to Kenwood there should be no issues. If you are having issues make sure the amp remote is connected for the factory amp and make sure you didn't blow any fuses installing the radio. Like JohnBoy said, there are special adapters for kenwood radios. If you have a soundsystem from BMW you have to make sure that the remote signal from your headunit is connected to the remote wire from your amp. | | | 12-10-2010, 12:59 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Houston Posts: 14 | Stock unit Do you have the stock radio and what shape is it in? Did everything work before removal? (that second part is important in helping diagnosis) I just got my first ti and the previous owner installed a big amp and speaker in the trunk. I dont care for it and need trunk space. I can get details and see in you are interested once u solve the fundamentals. | | | 12-10-2010, 05:47 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Houston,Texas Posts: 15 | Hey Joe, I just replaced my factory headunit as well and might be interested in the speaker and amp that you have. Can't pm yet so can u post here or hit me on my emailP: synthlegend@yahoo.com. I'm in Houston also, so it would be easy to meet up. Also to the OP, My install with smoothly and everthing works well. My rear speakers were dry rotted, so I replaced them with some 4" clarions. Make sure you get the amp remote connected and you should be good to go. The Metra harness works perfectly. | | | 12-11-2010, 02:58 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Mesa, Arizona Posts: 4 | Thanks for the quick replies. I'll look into the amp remote setup and see if i can mess around with that and get it workin. the previous radio was a stock radio and everything worked on it except the tape player. When i took that deck out there was a wire tucked behind the panel that wasn't connected to anything...not sure exactly what that is/does but nothing matches up on the new stereo. I'll post if something comes up...good or bad | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
