Some e30 guys do use the foxbody shocks, and since the rears of the 318ti are the same as an e30 I would imagine they work.

Hmmm, I'd love to know if that worked. I need to replace my rear shocks currently and I'm looking for something that can accommodate the low squat.

I've been told with a slight modification to the mounting hole (using an insert to step down the bolt size) you can run a VW MK5 rear shock, anybody try this on here? I've seen it work in an E30.

Doesn't ride at this height, but I like to keep it low.

Haven't heard about the Mk5 shock, that is pretty cool if it works. If you get the compressed and uncompressed lengths of the VW shock you can see if it is shorter than the ti rear shock. I assume you'd want shorter since you are running so low.

The shock doesn't support the car it just damps the motion and I'd assume a mk5 is heavier than a ti so if anything it might overdamp the spring. If you are running higher spring rates in the rear, that could be a good thing.

I worry about stepping down the bolt size, it would be better if you could open up the hole on the shock a little bit.

Plenty of aftermarket shocks for the mk5 though.

From what I was to understand the MK5 has a larger hole so I'd need to make a little insert to get it to the smaller diameter of our shocks, which doesn't sound as spooky as going the opposite direction.
