Default How many 318ti are there in North America?

I keep hearing people say the 318ti is a rare car, but how rare are they? How many exist in America?

The 318ti is by no means a "rare" car. While they're not as common as coupes sedans and verts here in the US, they were very popular in Europe. Tens of thousands of them were imported to North America from '95-'99. Fact is, you're looking at a 15 year old import and since coupes sedans and verts had more appeal to Americans in the '90's, they sold better. You're likely to see 50 regular e36's for every one compact. But that still doesn't make it rare.

this, in my small town there are 3 ti's, granted two of them were brought her by me but 3 compacts in a little upstate ny town in the middle of nowhere should give you an idea of how common they can be

I had never recognized the 318ti until I bought mine. And trust me when I say there are a truck load of them to be found in Denver. I know of about 12...and see little old ladies driving them around town from time to time.
They are not rare around these parts.

From this thread:

http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31219

"As promised from a previous forum thread, the following data came from "Standard Catalog of Imported Cars 1946-2002, 2nd Edition":

1995 - 7238
1996 - 7238
1997 - 4622
1988 - 3735
1999 - 656

I also have how many models (Base, Active, Sport and Clubsport) were exported to NA by model year. This information will be updated to this thread shorty."

My calculator totals that to 23,489.

I went to a church in Denver one day to meet with a lady selling her 1997 318ti Sport. As I walked around looking for her and the car, I found a Club Sport parked a block away.
Denver's a hot bed for these cars.
