Unhappy I crashed :( .. F my life.

I was going 90km/55mph on the highway, (slow) due to the road being rough because it was going to be repaved the next day or so. I heard a large boom! then a quarter of a second later, the car started going in an uncontrollable overseer situation. I immediately turned the wheel the other way, I didn't press the brake to keep the oversteer from getting worst but the oversteer was so bad, it seemed like the car just wouldn't regain control or slow down sufficiently for about 2 seconds, and on the very last second I mashed the brake. At this point the car was at such a bad angle with the road, that the braking didn't have any effect, so I fell down the ditch and the car hit a fence post and did a 270 degree till stop, on grass.
No one got hurt.

I've been driving for 25+yrs and living in a frigid climate I've saved my cars in similar situations even on ice many times (with other cars) but this time I was doomed. The car just didn't want to gain control. I had a flat or two on this car before even on the rear and it managed to keep control easily... what the hell happened this time??
It has traction control...So much for that.

I always pampered her, never even red lined

It gets worst I was under the assumption that she'd be insured, but it turns out that it was one way insurance.

Anyway, I have her now, she starts, the mechanics seem sound and no "CEL" except the alignment is off, chasis is fine.

Anyone had a similar situation and can tell what happened?

Look at the tire...WTF! , I visually inspect my tires all the time and have the pressure checked when they seem low.

That's the important thing.

These cars are tail happy cars.
I totaled my '98 in 2000.

The good news is I'm still around to talk about it as you are.

I'm glad you are OK. The car can be put back together if you choose and it's in repairable shape.

Curious, did you guys have rear strut bar braces installed? I find that seems to help the rear stay planted better if conditions permit.

I did not.
In my case it was a series of errors on my part.

I was prechecking a car club drive very early in the morning.
Right rear wheel hit wet gravel which sent me across the road.

Too fast for conditions being I was tired and dew on the ground.

No rear strut bar braces installed.
I had a Billstein 'sport' shock and spring kit.

Anyone had a tire blow like that?
From the first pic, you can see it's ripped from end to end on one side.

I had tested the traction control, which I always left 'on'.
It seemed to work well in rainy conditions,
but in this case, its possible the tire jammed and completely kept the wheel from turning, sending the car on a tail spin.

We were lucky I wasn't going faster.

I've never had a blow out like that on modern tires at least.
I wonder if the edge just caught a sharp edge of the pavement.
Not much sidewall on a low profile tire.

I've had a tire do one of those before. I hit a huge pot hole at about 80mph with low profiles.

I think that happens when the tire is flat but the rim is still rolling on it, ends up eating the sidewall up (thinnest rubber). By the time I got off the hwy mine had done that on both sides, bout lost the tread down the road.

Been driving my 95, 5.0 (not a daily) but I miss the ti.
Will have her fixed soon and give her a complete paint job.
Looking forward to it.
I'm also going to look into 18"x7.5 wheels instead of 18x8 so I can get away with less "stretch" on the tire and possibly 40mm instead of 35mm.

I also had the option to trash it and many were telling me to do so.
However, I'd have a hard time finding another Mtech + manual and I like the color.

I removed and sanded/bondoed the front and back bumpers, now it's up to the the pro to do the rest.
