m44 replacing an m42 engine Procedure

The result of a long and painful repair process was a m44 engine put in place of an m42 engine in my 95 318ti. The mechanic was not good - lesson learned -
I am not confident that the replacement was done correctly as there are some vacuum hoses that go nowhere and other issues. Does anyone have a procedure to replace a 42 with a 44. I would like to see if all the steps were done. I understand there are two temperature sensors on the 42 and one on the 44 (?) so what happens to the other wiring etc....

I am not a mechanic so be gentle.

I'm going to breeze over this as I am making some assumptions on your case.

If I had to to this swap, I would take the harness from the M42 engine and connect it to the M44 engine. There will be some un-used sensors on the newer engine, but they should not be a problem.

What is of greater concern is that the ne engine has the old engine sensors instaled, or the signals might me wrong for the older ECU. The newer sensors will be 'better' but not better for your application if they are calibrated on a different curve, or worse, if the operate at a different voltage they could damage the ECU.
