Hey!
I have to replace the upper trim panel around the steering column because something snapped when my mechanic removed it and now it won't properly connect to the lower trim panel anymore :-(
Part #18
http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...g_column_tube/ Thing is, the rear end of the upper panel has a piece sticking out 90° upwards, which makes it impossible to squeeze it behind the dashboard!
I know that because I already had that trouble before once
Last time I just cut it off, this time I want to make it properly.
I am certainly not going to disassemble the dashboard, so I thought lowering the steering column might do the trick.
Am I right? If so, how do I lower the column?
Or is there another way?
German forums failed me so far.
Cheers
