Fan, wifi, USB3?

HDMI output?
Fan - already with CPU when you buy it.
wifi - will have Ethernet port already, but that you can buy separately if you need wifi - or a internal card can also just cost $20
USB 3.0 - comes with the motherboard
HDMI output - comes with the Graphics card already - I think it has 2 DVI and one HDMI output.

I'm just not sure if I'll loose interest in a few months.
Also need to pick up a monitor.

What does this mean?
Compatibility Notes
ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Antec Three Hundred Illusion ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work... but I can't help but wonder if a Raspberry Pi could handle this. heh heh

Looks good to me. Do you really need a $85 keyboard/mouse combo when you're on a budget? You could surely get a $35 keyboard/mouse combo and put that total down to $800.

This ^^ I just did it out of habit as for gaming decent mouse and keyboard feel will make a big difference, but if your using a external steering wheel for a sim just a regular Logitech keyboard/mouse combo will be fine.

Also if your not sure that you want to play it.. why not just pick up some craigslist prebuilt PC - have a neighborhood kid who knows computers well check it out for you and just do it that way. That PC that you got built above will work well, but its not really necessary if your not too sure. Though I am very surprised at how people overrate their PC's value on craigslist.

Actually this isn't too bad:

Yes, I would be willing to test/ship it for your. If you thought it worth it.

or even this:

Thanks for the road map for a build here.

I think that i'm going to go for it. I'm going to make a parts list and may do my ordering on Monday, hoping to save a few bucks.

A few questions.

I have HD's and peripherals left over so have some room $ wise, is it smartest to put that toward a video card?

Also, i always thought that the MoBo was the most important piece, so isn't a $70 board questionable?

Linux on a gaming pc?

Linux was suggested because iRacing has a Linux build.

I'm a Mac guy and don't really have a need for a dedicated PC other than iRacing at this point.

I run Parallels on my Mac for when I do need to run PC programs.
I'm not in a position to replace my laptop just yet.
Ideally I'd buy a quad core i7 Mac.

Based on some suggestions on iRacing, I increased the speed of the processor and upped the video.

The motherboard says it has ethernet.
Not sure about wifi or Bluetooth.

The Intel Core i5-4690k is only $179.99 at Microcenter (in-store) deal and is faster than the i5-4590 you picked. I'm not sure if you're pushing the limits of your PSU, so check that too. You can finally save a little with your computer case (maybe $30 here and there) if you pick a different one on sale in stores.

Nearest Microcenter is 90 minutes away.
