what would be considered bad options for an exhaust in my 98

Exhausts are a personal preference.
I find Borla, Ansa, B&B too loud.

I like Supersprint and actually the best sounding exhaust for me was one from Racing Dynamics.

I have a Dynomax exhaust and love it. It's not stainless steel although I think they do make one. It is cheap and sounds great. You don't have to pay a lot for the muffler.
