Arrow Front Bumper Options?

I've got a 98 Ti SPORT WITH THE Mtech front bumper. The middle bit of the grille has come away after some twat decided to kick it in, so it either needs replacing (which will require taking the bumper off and I don't have a clue how to do) or meshing or i'm just contemplating buying a new bumper altogether and getting it sprayed and fitted.

Are there any standardish looking bumpers that I could get away with not declaring to insurance company? Any pictures?

Or otherwise, how hard is it to remove and replace the front bumper? Are there any online guides?

Removing the bumper and replacing that piece is fairly simple. You could even change it to the slats if you originally had the mesh... or stick with the mesh.

In terms of replacing the bumper entirely, you have a lot of options and you shouldn't have to declare it to your insurance company, but then again, I don't know what your policy is like, so I could be wrong.

To change the mesh grill you do't have to take off the bumper, all you need to do is go from underneath to fix it.

If the damage is only the front grill insert there is no need to replace the M-tech bumper with something else.

Just buy a replacement insert; bavauto.com sells them for $64.95, or you can go straight to the dealership and pick one up. They are easy to install; you just need to get underneath your ti, remove the splash panel, take off the damaged grill insert and clip on the new one; there is no need to remove the entire bumper.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-9...QQcmdZViewItem

I did so about a year and a half ago (not even an OEM part) and it has been just fine till this day (replaced the slates as some - as you say - twat kicked it in as well)..

cheers!
