You are just removing the stock parts, and putting the M3 parts back on. Brake calipers come off with two bolts, the caliper brackets come off with two bolts. Removing the spindles will probably be the only difficult part, and there are certainly articles out there for doing DIY spindle replacements. If you don't know how to do a basic brake job, new pads/rotors, might be best to take this to your mechanic. | | | 04-03-2009, 04:34 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: USA Posts: 40 | This is for you safety. Doing the brake replacement the 1st time. You should always go to a mechanic. Let him do it and just watch carefully how he do it. _________________ If you ain't first your last! tundra performance parts | | | 04-03-2009, 05:06 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Quote: Originally Posted by KarenCaren This is for you safety. It is a great way to learn! KaysterX - I'm just over the bridge in Vallejo, if you ever need/want help in person, feel free to ask... p.s. I am noticing that the ABS sensor wheel is different, the original on my '96 is like a smooth solid disk with rectangular slots cut into it and the M3 brakes I got have triangular shaped edges like a sawblade. Picture is kind of fuzzy because it's all gunked up.. Guess I should probably clean it off somehow.. Hopefully my abs will still work.. | | | 05-25-2009, 06:18 PM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 10 | I haven't even started yet, I'm working on my 84 e30 Baur and 87 e30 325is. Very simple replacement, not worthy of a mechanic. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-27-2009, 06:33 AM | #11 | Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: norcal Posts: 34 | i got away with a hammer and a xtra large crescent wrench.. not good for the tool, but it didn't take much. My pickle fork was too small.. I'm wondering if I'm supposed to grease up the sensor so particles don't stick to it? My sensors were greased when I pulled them out and the trigger wheels in the M3 spindles look greased too.. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 9 (0 members and 9 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
