Default Quick Question (I'm New to BMW's)

1999 318ti... It's an E36 right? I've read some places that E36 stopped at 98, and went on to E46? Is that complete BS? Just a quick question requiring a one post answer.

1999 was the last year they were sold in the US IIRC. They did sell a 2000 e36 318ti in Europe however and shortly after that the e46's came out.

The E46 ti didn't come out until 2001 (model year), and only outside of the US.

Any ti you're looking at in the US is an E36/5.

If you look at the door tag, it will tell you the production month/year.

i guess technically the E36 era did stop in 1998, as the 1999's had a newer body style...

but it seems the E36 look stuck for the 318TI's and for the convertibles ...
which is definitly wierd and i have no good explanation for that, nor have i heard of one.

In 1999, the 323is and 328is (coupe and cabrio) and M3 (sedan, coupe and cabrio) were e36s, and the 328i and 323i sedans were e46. Model year 2000 introduced the e46 coupes, and temporarily halted M3 production until 2001.

So, there were quite a few other e36's in 1999 than the 318ti.

Only 2-door and vert were offered in '99. The 4-door M3 was on in '97-'98. Of course this is US market.

Oakley has the newest e36 318ti on this site. And a very nice one to say the least.

Although I'm not particularly attracted to the e46 318ti's, I wonder why nobody has ever registered one on this site

E36 TI > ALL
