Default NY/NJ - 1997 Sport, Cali-roof, 5-speed, black

So my Bimmer overheated on the highway and lost all engine power. It is in the shop now but everyone is saying that the repair might be really expensive since the motor doesn't even try to start now. There was white smoke everywhere when I pulled the car over yesterday.

Anyway, if I end up junking that car, would anyone be interested in buying it in that broken condition? I'll be getting all of the details in a few days from the shop.

The car has about 130k miles and it has one major flaw besides the engine issue that just occured. I'll detail that if the car is going to be junked. All bumpers and paint are original. Interior is original too minus the head unit. Cali roof never failed me, but it does leak here and there.

I may possibly, though probably not. No way to get it home, but if it's cheap enough maybe find a way

Ok will do guys. I'll get all the details from the shop then set a price.

That one defect which I inherited from the original seller is that when you take hard left turns, the wheel rubs against the frame. The steering wheel will shake too if you dont ease up. The seller said that the only problem with the car was a small bump on the front left from a minor fender bender. Well this problem started to reveal itself once I bought the car and learned to drive stick and began driving the car and having fun with it by taking fast sharp turns.

Having said that, I used the car to and from work everyday, 25 miles each way on the highway. Problem only happens when you take hard left turns. I just had all 4 brakes and rotors done about two weeks ago. New Bosal muffle installed a few months ago. I wouldn't have thought about selling it until this happened.

Yeah it may well be. I'm sure that's why piece of sh!t previous owner sold it to me without reporting the incident and lied to me about the full extent of the damage.

Ok here's the deal. The engine chain or serpentie belt may have snapped. There is no compression. He says if we repair the current engine then we're looking at thousands of dollars. I guess I will have to sell it.

I'd like to sell it to the highest bidder.

Starting bid is $1000 because I already have a buyer at work for that amount.

Both windows have bent regulators and the windows are closed at the moment. I bought replacement regulators from this forum not too long ago but never fixed them. Back bumper is sticking out on the left side after a tow truck pulled it out when it got stuck in the snow last winter.

I'll get pictures up by tomorrow.

This car may end up being fixed, I'm having a different shop check it out and see if they could source an engine and what not. If the total repair including labor is about $2k then I'm going to fix it and keep it.

Stay tuned y'all.

Replacement engine through bavauto $1,600 shipped.
Labor + new clutch while the engine is out, $1,000 or more?

It's gonna be a tough decision.

Anyone still interested in buying the car in it's current condition for $1,000 or best offer?

Had all four brakes and rotors done last month. New Bosal muffler a few months ago. Radiator blew and got fixed maybe a year ago. Had the idle control unit replaced about two years ago.

That's pretty much it.
