Default passenger door lock

this is a two parter.

1) i found a door lock repair kit on pelican for $40, and i was wondering if i could use that since someone tried to break into my car by destroying the lock (which did not work btw) BMW told me it would cost close to 200 to get it replaced and keyed.

2) i also can no longer open the passenger side door from the outside, this is just recently a problem since the lock was broke over a year ago, the not opening door happened this month. am i better of to replace the whole handle? or do we think this is just an effect of the broken lock?

for your second one, pop the door panel off and check the rods inside the door that are hooked to the handles and latch, it's possible the plastic clip holding the rod for the outside handle in place broke and the rod came loose

wow, that's pretty bad, I don't know if a lock repair kit will fix that, I think they just replace the internal pieces and tumblers

unfortunate. and the only way to key a lock it by letting someone professionals do it? or can i buy the replacement handle/lock and do it myself?

i know these pictures are hard to tell things, but i was checking out my passenger side door handle cause its been sticking. and i found the reason is because the side with the lock must have gotten unattacked from what ever keeps it tight in place

however i noticed two wires that have been cut. and i am curious as to what they do?
the first picture is the cut wires

and this picture is where the wires are coming from. the yellow connector next to the handle on the inside of the door.

yellow connectors are usually for airbags, that's pretty strange since I'm pretty sure your car is old enough that it wouldn't have side airbags in the doors
