I don't know what the part is called, but the piece that holds the pulley on the inside broke off and makes it loose. I took it to the dealership and they charged me about $300 I think, so do not go there. | | | 09-17-2005, 06:47 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Concord, NC Posts: 28 | if i can find out exactly what it is then i can fix it myself. i think i may take a shot at the Idler Pulley and just cross my fingers. | | | 09-17-2005, 08:47 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Tennessee Posts: 523 | I had that same problem too.Thruster bearing is what mine was it had the exact same problem as you describe. Its costing me 750 in parts and labor I had to have a new kit because my engine was a leftover from 97 of december which have been known for these problems up to that production date hope your is less costly!!! | | | 09-20-2005, 02:58 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Colyumbia S.C. Hey all! I have a 95ti and i have had it nearly a year. I hear a periodic tick tick or whistle sound coming from the front or rear wheel area. Plus, i hear a rattle noise every time i hit a bump. I tighted the catalytic coverter cover with metal clamps, but the noise is coming from the rear strut area. These appear to be two separate noise. Any clues? | | | 09-23-2005, 09:32 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Possible broken shock mount..... Crankcase Vent Valve just have to remove two 5mm Allen bolts. bimmerzone.com for 42$ | | | 10-06-2005, 11:02 PM | #13 | Site Moderator Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Naples, Florida Posts: 238 | Quote: Originally Posted by DeadpaN ok i finally fixed it. the crankcase vent valve its easy to do. if you're gonna replace the hoses too, its a little more involved....my hoses were ****ed! but the crankcase valve literally disintegrated after i got it off no more whistling. The gasket which is next to the crankcase ventilation valve. __________________ Nick 1995 BMW 318iC.
