the trans gets really hot. so hot i can feel the heat inside the car. does this both on the highway and stop and go. but heres the thing, when i turn on the a/c i don't feel the heat. is there a thermostat for the trans? or do i have some other type of cooling problem?

its a 1995 BMW with auto trans with 150,000 miles. it does slip every once in awhile.

When you engage your AC the electric cooling fan engages. This sends more air thru the radiator cooling the coolant and transmission fluid.

When was the last time you changed your coolant in your radiator? It could be clogged or old and dirty.

When was last time you changed transmission fluid? and filter. 2 most overlooked things on BMW besides brake fluid.
