Would it be ok on the old filter for a few days? | | | 04-26-2006, 09:31 PM | #2 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Yes it would be ok but all the new oil you put in that circulates through it will come out dirtier than it would if it's new. I personally wouldn't leave it in there more than 2 days. Do you have the right tool to get off the oil filter? I bought mine from bavauto.com and it worked a hell of alot better than the one i bought at autozone. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 04-26-2006, 09:41 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Bend, OR Posts: 413 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tyler Yes it would be ok but all the new oil you put in that circulates through it will come out dirtier than it would if it's new. Try to wait until its cool, if you can't get it off when its cool, run the car for like 3 minutes and try it. It can be done without a tool, I don't ever use a tool because there isn't enough room to use the tool with the supercharger on. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 04-26-2006, 09:48 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Some guy on this forum used his hands. Verified with an oil analisys a few years back.... A strap wrench is a like an oil filter wrench except instead of a metal ring theres just a loop of nylon strap. Just make sure that when you put it back on you don't over-torque it, as long as you continue to change your oil at regular intervals you should be able to get it off with your hands from now on. | | | 04-28-2006, 10:40 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lake Stevens, WA Posts: 119 | Your belt is the best filter wrench ever! __________________ Pete N | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
