Default CV-Axle Half Shaft from Advanced Auto Parts...

Advanced Auto Parts has GSP Brand CV Axle Assembly (P/N: NCV27994). They have a 90 Day Warranty (at the discretion of AAP). I ordered two for $169.98 including free shipping. Note: the outboard CV body is slightly larger diameter than the OEM unit but there's enough clearance and the ABS Sensor is not affected. Do not order the "NCV27995" unit as several reviews say they're too long for 318ti.

GSP Brand CV Axle Assembly (P/N: NCV27994):
Compressed Length: 23 1/8”
OBJ Spline Count: 27
IBJ Spline Count: N/A
IBJ Type: Bolt On
ABS Count: 48
ABS Style: Window
Weight: 14.48 Lbs.

23MAY2015 - @171,368 Miles I replaced the old CV Axle Assemblies with new GSP Brand CV Axle Assemblies. They supplied a new Locking type Axle Nut and plain flat Washer but both were not correct. The Nut was larger than the OEM 30mm one and the plain flat Washer obviously wouldn’t lock the old Nut. Secondly, they supplied new Inboard-CV Joint Bolts but they were of the wrong thread pitch and only 5 supplied versus 6 needed. I put Permatex Anti-Seize Compound on the Shaft Splines before inserting them into the Wheel Hubs. The Cover Caps on the Inboard-Joints were not correctly aligned nor fully seated. I hammered a steel Punch through the Bolt Holes to straighten them before installing the Axles. Only did a short test drive so far but seem fine...

Keep us posted on their longevity... I have not had good luck with replacement half shafts, had one self destruct after just a few months (not that brand, but I suspect they are all remanufactured at a central factory and then resold by wholesalers).

Can't sat for sure since I sold the car last Spring. The new axles were working great and they had 7,282 miles on them. The quality was good so I'd say go for it.

NCV27994 is the correct length. Do not get the NCV27995 as they're too long.
