I am replacing the head gasket and a good time to add it. I discovered that the injectors were caked with black stuff. I never seen anything that looked so bad. Do you know is there anyway to clean them up? Do you have any photo instructions on how to install the catch tank? thanks | | | 12-20-2011, 05:23 AM | #77 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Elkhart, IN Posts: 128 | Quote: Originally Posted by fast2002 I am new to 318ti and I am interested in a catch tank for my car. I will find the photos and PM them to you. Its very basic straight forward stuff, but you will enjoy knowing how much cleaner your internals are going to STAY after installing the catch can. We need to discuss how you want the catch can to look, what kind of hose, PCV eliminator or not, and so on... EDIT: The installation instructions are on the first post. What are the benefits eliminating the PCV valve? Are there any drawbacks to eliminating it? | | | 01-07-2012, 01:45 AM | #83 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Elkhart, IN Posts: 128 | Quote: Originally Posted by bullmand Your kits look awesome and I'm potentially interested in getting one but I'm curious about something. What are the benefits eliminating the PCV valve? Are there any drawbacks to eliminating it? | Thanks for the compliment. To Date: Over 400 made for various vehicles and absolutely no complaints. Safe to say after 2 years of catching the crud, this system definitely works! From 7.0L turbo diesel engines to 1.6L Hondas... any configuration is possible. As for the PCV valve question, I have not seen or heard of any drawbacks yet. I have logged about 15,000 miles on my catch can and havent noticed the difference. Whether its a necessary item or not could be more of an opinion to some. The benefits are the ability to add a leak free "AN" style fitting. With all the crud that may be gunked up inside the stock PCV, it might be hard to tell for sure its functioning perfectly. And lastly costs less than a stock replacement PCV. So basically the system is not being changed from its typical function. Theres still a one way valve, its sealed and vacuum actuated. Thanks for the good question! Hope this helps. | | | 01-08-2012, 01:32 AM | #84 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | What do you have for an m52 ? Being the first one for this car, we can work out a deal if you are willing to help with bracket and placement. While on the subject of various applications and their availability, keep in mind I also have bretaher tanks. Those best suit cars that do not have Mass Air Flow meters, or that have standalone computers. For anyone that needs a transmission breather kit, I can do that too. | | | 01-10-2012, 07:31 PM | #86 | Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: NorCal Posts: 40 | Remember me, lol, I posted back in April 2011 wanting one of these for my e30 318is build. well here's a couple pics of what my engine bay will look like when I get back in April of this year I need one of your cans to go from the valve cover to the manifold for my ITBs, you can see it's a pretty short run in the pics above. I'd like it to mount near the rad like you did on the 318ti kit. email me, bwawuz02@yahoo.com please! | | | 01-10-2012, 11:21 PM | #87 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Elkhart, IN Posts: 128 | WOW!
