The problem is one of the blocks that the clips attach to separated from the door panel. Can anyone recommend a good adhesive to reattach the plastic block to the door panel? | | | 12-09-2006, 12:35 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | I would say Gorilla Glue...but I can never get it to set right(It's the water part prob I fudge with) my friend can use it, and it's sets like concret with his skill. | | | 12-09-2006, 12:49 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | Quote: Originally Posted by Panzer_M I would say Gorilla Glue...but I can never get it to set right(It's the water part prob I fudge with) my friend can use it, and it's sets like concret with his skill. | Thanks - I will look into it. I asked a garage and they told my windshield adhesive. I am going to see what that stuff is all about too. | | | 12-09-2006, 12:55 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | The whole car is designed so great but BMW must have had subcontracted the power windows and door panels out to a Chinese corporation. | | | 12-09-2006, 01:15 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | I've used epoxy and it seems to work fine. I roughend up the mating surfaces with sandpaper first. | | | 12-09-2006, 01:32 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | Quote: Originally Posted by CirrusSR22 I've used epoxy and it seems to work fine. It took 24hrs to setup totally but it dries clear. It has a similar texture to the factory adhesive when it dries. It doesn't total cure until 72hrs. It seems to be holding very well so far. | | | 12-10-2006, 02:43 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I've used Goop. I've used JB Weld. I think if the secret is to scuff and clean the surfaces well. | | | 12-12-2006, 02:49 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: lancashire, england Posts: 300 | Quote: Originally Posted by ipswich318ti i used super glue and it stuck very well | same here. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
