Quirky? My car will only start if I turn the key to the on position and wait. I wait until the beeping stops. Will start perfect on the first try. If i dont wait the starter lets go and goes whirrr a free spinning sound. Is this just a quirk? Or do I have a problem developing. Maybe corosion on some electric connections. Any info is appriciated. -Dave 98 117k | | | 04-25-2005, 07:26 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | i usually have the key turned until it sounds like everything is firing correctly, probably about a full second. but what beeping are you talking about? the only thing i can think of is the seatbelt alert. have you tried belting in first? may be a slight short. | | | 04-25-2005, 04:48 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Posts: 91 | Beep Yeah the seatbelt beep. Just a timing coincidence. The seatbelt dosnt seem to make a difference. I gues its about a 10-15 sec wait. | | | 06-09-2005, 04:28 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Northern New Jersey Posts: 395 | my car starts the same as aceyx's about a second delay. | | | 06-09-2005, 06:19 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Ontario, Canada Posts: 40 | My dad always told me to wait until the beeping stops to fully start it...and no it's not the seatbelt beep, it's the beeps that come on when you turn the key...but if you start it right away, the beeping will stop. | | | 06-09-2005, 06:21 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Wilmington, NC Posts: 641 | yea, you should wait till the beeping stops, because it basically allows the car to prepare to start. Flushing out OBC and whatnot. I never do this though, I am too impatient. -chris __________________ 18'' Ace Wheels • Pirelli P7000 SS Tires • Bosal Brospeed Exhaust • B&M Short Throw Kit • H&R Sport Springs • Euro Clears • cat delete • Rogue Engineering Clutch Stop • Modded Airbox • blacked out kidney grilles • Suede Headliner/A Pillars S52 CONVERSION UNDERWAY | | | 06-09-2005, 06:56 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | i thought that was the "don't leave your keys in the ignition" beep. | | | 06-09-2005, 09:03 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Wilmington, NC Posts: 641 | i think that is the primary purpose of the beep. -chris __________________ 18'' Ace Wheels • Pirelli P7000 SS Tires • Bosal Brospeed Exhaust • B&M Short Throw Kit • H&R Sport Springs • Euro Clears • cat delete • Rogue Engineering Clutch Stop • Modded Airbox • blacked out kidney grilles • Suede Headliner/A Pillars S52 CONVERSION UNDERWAY | | | 06-10-2005, 03:47 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: San Diego Posts: 85 | While were on this subject, every now and again my car will take a few second to turn over or something. It happenes maybe 2 or 3 times a month, usually when i have my A/C running. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone? | | | 06-10-2005, 06:27 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Wilmington, NC Posts: 641 | Quote: Originally Posted by DaNO While were on this subject, every now and again my car will take a few second to turn over or something. Maybe once a week, when I put in my key to turn her on, the key just spins lol. If I just take it out, then put it back in, it works fine. As for starting her, I basically just turn it enough to get the juice from the battery, and it kicks right on. So Id hold it for maybe 1/2 a second. __________________ Joe, In San Luis Obispo E30-> '96 TI sport -> E30 -> '96 TI | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
