I'm 24, I only insure my 1997 318ti. I only pay $264 for 6 months thru American Family (full coverage). Buy a house, it dropped my payments by almost $40/month.

would also help if people were actually listing their coverages with deductibles as that makes a large difference. i also believe they "reward" you for being with the company over time (loyalty), in other words, all things equal, you'll have lower payments vs someone who just joined them. may be more perception than reality ... who knows.

state farm (zip code 53182, WI), 34 yo, 6 month cost:
(reductions for multiple line [think auto + renters], vehicle safety, accident free)
liability (100|300|100) $152.00
medical payments (25) $ 22.44
comp (250 deductible) $ 60.41
collision (500 deductible) $ 87.39
uninsured (100|300) $ 6.66
underinsured (100|300) $ 7.03
======================
total $ 335.93

A question......do not your modifications to the vehicles over there in the US have to be declared to the insurance company? and if so how much of a difference does it make?

318ti 98MY standard.....wifes insurance....fully comp....age 47.....£220

That's a good question about modifications... I actually have no idea... should probably look into that.

On my caddy (92 El Dorado), on an NY Policy with Traveler's Insurance, I was paying $4500 a year! Now that I'm contracted with Navy ROTC, I insure my 97 318ti through USAA, and I pay around 1500 a year... I don't even wanna think what it would have been if I hadn't gone through USAA...

EDIT: By the way, both of those rates are with NO accidents or traffic violations on record.

EDIT2: Oh yea, I'm 19

I have State Farm and pay about $200/month to fully cover my 1996 BMW 318ti and 2004 GMC Yukon Denali XL. I'm 34, married and own my home (my home owners insurance is also with State Farm), so my premiums are pretty good.

As far as coverage of mods, I once asked my agent and was told that so long as I have the receipt and mileage in which they were installed, they will cover it. But I don't believe that's true for every insurance agency and policy.

I wasn't worried about the coverage of the cost of the mods, just the fact that over here as soon as you modify a vehicle the insurance rate shoots up as they consider the vehicle/owner a greater risk!

Best regards David

(a completely standard 318ti........naturally )

Aside from liability, insurance is a friggin racket anyways... I mean, you take 1500 a year (my rate), and put it in a goddamn bank account, I guarantee you you'll be able to pay off any collission you get into. I hate insurance.

when i turned 25, my insurance dropped over 55%

i'm on a fleet account with travelers (in PA), and pay about 95/mo. when my life stabilizes a bit, i'll probably join renters/motorcycle (now through state farm) with my auto.

I'm 25. No accidents for 3 years. A couple speeding tickets/disorderly conducts with MV.

$37/month for full converage. American Family Standard. Been with them since I was 16. It's finally starting to pay off.
