On the m44 like mine you actually have to buy the whole unit itself, housing, thermostat and gasket and imo that kindof sucks. I could be wrong,i see just the thermostats but only for the m42. I'll just buy the whole unit,i have to pick up a part from bmw on thursday so i'll just add to the order. My coolant is lower than than the fill mark but there is still coolant in thter... i haev no idea when last it was replace or refilled. Could this also be a problem with the gauge fluctuating like that? And to do a flush do i need to be able to lift the car up at all? Do u think if it is the thermo being stuck open will this hurt my car cuz if this cost alot to fix i dont realy have the money right now. Thanks. __________________ 1993 325is Hellrot Tribute to: 97 318ti Montreal Blue R.I.P 96 318ti Schwartz II | | | 11-30-2005, 12:27 AM | #33 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | gotcha...i was gonna say mine just pops out and pops in....it wasnt difficult at all really... __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 12-03-2005, 06:49 PM | #34 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Well i'm having a bad day. I didn't drain all of the fluid so i'm not sure if the piece of plastic went further in the engine. I don't know if i should put it back together and drive around town for a bit to see what happens.. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 12-03-2005, 08:04 PM | #37 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tyler i found the bolt now it's just the plastic piece. After a little bit we decided to put everything back together and see what happens. Well got it running but no heat was coming out and after some time of adding more fluid to it and reving the engine a little the heat started to work and temp dropped to half way and looked like everything was good. I shut the car off went inside for a bit then needed to run to the store. As i backed out of my driveway i noticed there was a slight hesitation while gently touching the gas. I touched the pedal a few times and the same thing hesitaion and idle dropped, then just started to move along and another problem occures. My ASC+T light and Automatic transmission light came on,i looked up the trans light since i've never seen it before. Then turned around and went home, now i'm just confused as hell & need a serious drink. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 12-04-2005, 07:49 PM | #40 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Lake George, NY Posts: 338 | tyler you're scaring me about this repair now! quick stupid unrelated question: should you bleed your coolant system everytime you open the radiator cap? | | | 12-07-2005, 01:55 AM | #41 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Lake George, NY Posts: 338 | tyler any updates? | | | 12-07-2005, 11:32 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Utah Posts: 100 | just ordered my tstat from Pelican Parts. i asked them if the gasket comes with it and they say it doesnt, but they are including one for free ! ill try and take some pics of the install and put it in the knowledge base. | | | 12-08-2005, 01:36 AM | #43 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Quote: Originally Posted by rendoll911 tyler any updates? | Thermostat is changed and everything went well after my issues.
