Default Yeah you wouldn't

You might not but genuine bmw enthusiasts will. Most guys like you will buy a schitter ti for 3000 and put another 4-5k in one over time. In the end you still have a schitter ti with a bunch of aftermarket crap in it, whilst if you had just bought a gem to begin with you'd have a sweet car and no MX problems. There you have it cooljess.

I'd say it's worth 6k...8 is a little high relative to the ti market (which I follow just for fun).

Looks like a nice clean car with LOW milage. Engine bay looks super clean. I don't know if I'd pay 8k but remember there is an ass for every seat. I sold my first ti to a kid for 8 grand. GLWS

Edit, I'm not saying whoever buys this is an ass btw, just a metafore...lol

Calm down? I'm doing just peachy I stand by the post, most guys will find an abused ti, invest a ton in stock and/or aftermarket parts, maintain it by joe schmoe, and then what have you got? I'm just saying you can either pay now or pay later... I'd rather pay now for a cherry car than buy a money pit. So for the extra 3k you have a cherry car, hell you can pay that in one sitting on MX alone. Cya.

Fair enough, I don't want to crap in your for sale thread. I just have a couple questions before I head over to the bank.

- Are you the original owner? If not, how many owners has it had and how many of the miles have you personally put on the car?
- Has the vehicle ever been in an accident?
- Was the catalytic converter replaced under BMW's recall?
- Was the HVAC cable addressed under BMW's recall?
- What does "adult driven" really mean? Are you saying that it's never been over 65mph or 4000 rpm?
- Has the vehicle ever been smoked in? If I were to look inside of the cigarette lighter, is it brand new?
- Have all of the cooling system components been replaced? Thermostat? Water pump? Radiator? Plastic coolant fitting on the driver's side of the engine block? Plastic coolant fitting on the back of the cylinder head? Radiator hoses? BMW coolant?
- Does the oil filter housing or spark plug seals leak? Spark plug holes are completely dry and free of oil? No oil on the lower front of the engine block?
- Does the headliner sag over the back seat and cargo area?
- Are the headlight lenses foggy, hazy, pitted or yellow?
- Do the mini bulbs located behind the headlight and foglight switches still light up?
- Is the factory toolkit complete?
- Has the spare tire been replaced and maintained?
- What condition are the tires and brakes in?
- Does the parking brake hold firm halfway through the lever's stroke?
- Have the windows ever fallen off track or regulator arms ever popped out of the plastic sliders?
- Do the mirrors have any bronzing around the edges?
- Does the factory airbox still have the sound deadening foam inside of it?
- Has the differential oil ever been changed?
- Have the brake and power steering fluids ever been flushed?
- Oxygen sensors replaced?
- Have the rear subframe bushings, rear trailing arm bushings, differential bushing, front control arm bushings, rear shock mounts, front strut bearings, ball joints and tie rods, cv boots ever been replaced?
- Original clutch?
- Does the shifter have any slop in it?
- A/C blow cold air?
- Heater blow hot air?
- Is the climate knob stiff or difficult to turn?
- Do the hatch struts hold when it's cold outside?
- Is the driver's lower seat bolster worn?
- Has the check engine light or SRS(airbag) light ever came on?
- Has the temperature gauge ever went above 12 o'clock? Ever, even for a few seconds?
- Was the factory radio harness cut to install the aftermarket radio or was an adapter harness used?
- Do you still have the factory radio?
- Are the plastic windshield cowl trim pieces grey, dry or cracking?
- How about the outside weather stripping at the base of the side windows, specifically above the door handles?
- Antenna grommet dry or cracked?
- Do the windshield washer nozzles and mirrors heat up?
- Does the rear windshied washer nozzle spray?
- Is the rear parcel shelf faded or purple?
- Are all 4 of the rubber jack pads still in place underneath the car?
- Is the the plastic underpanel and brake ducts still in place and intact attached to the front bumper?
- Does the front bumper still have the "luxury" slats and if so are they cracked or damaged in any way?
- Foglights cracked?
- Do you have pets?
- What do YOU consider a "Genuine BMW Enthusiast"? BMWCCA member? How many BMW's have you owned?
- You do realize that EVERY 318ti Sport after '95 came with Mtechnic trim and sport suspension right? Thousands of them were sold in North America, so it's not exactly "rare" by any means. Only 300 ClubSports were made in '95, only one 318ti(that I know of) received an M3 powerplant from the factory and a very small handful were given full treatment by AC Schnitzer. Those might be considered "rare".

Again, sorry for all of the questions. I just think it might help justify your asking price and ensure a quick sale to the right person

Just to be clear, it's not my intention drive your price down or interfere with your sale in any way. A wise man once said, "it's only worth what someone is willing to pay". In all fairness, the car does appear to be extremely clean and original. The mileage is exceptionally low considering the vehicle's age. I do in fact whole heartedly wish you the best of luck with your sale and hope that you will get no less than your full asking price. I also would like to see your car go to a person who will appreciate and care for it as well as you and any other previous owners have. The questions listed above were only meant to cover the common issues that I would look for when purchasing a 15 year old 318ti.

There's just one more question I forgot to ask, have the interior door panels ever been removed for any reason and if so, are all of the retaining clips intact and affixed to the backside of the panel?

And finally, I know you meant "maintenance", but I think some people might see "MX" and think motocross

Default Wow

Well Cooljess I would have to get back with you on some of those items, that's a pretty long list, next time number the items so it's easy to reference them Are you the original owner? If not, how many owners has it had and how many of the miles have you personally put on the car? 3 owners before me, the first owner sold it at 12k, bought by a guy who sold it at 80k ish, then the same guy bought it back. I've put very little miles on it, the MX record history is 2 inches thick. - Has the vehicle ever been in an accident? No - Was the catalytic converter replaced under BMW's recall? Yes - Was the HVAC cable addressed under BMW's recall? Don't know. - What does "adult driven" really mean? Are you saying that it's never been over 65mph or 4000 rpm? Really?? It means it's apparent it hasn't been driven by a dipschit. You should know that all it takes is a look and a drive to determine this. - Has the vehicle ever been smoked in? If I were to look inside of the cigarette lighter, is it brand new? 100% no. - Have all of the cooling system components been replaced? Thermostat? Water pump? Radiator? Plastic coolant fitting on the driver's side of the engine block? Plastic coolant fitting on the back of the cylinder head? Radiator hoses? BMW coolant? Yes to all but unsure about the fittings. - Does the oil filter housing or spark plug seals leak? Spark plug holes are completely dry and free of oil? No oil on the lower front of the engine block? No leaks period. - Does the headliner sag over the back seat and cargo area? No, professionally replaced, perfect. - Are the headlight lenses foggy, hazy, pitted or yellow? Slightly fogged only around the edges. - Do the mini bulbs located behind the headlight and foglight switches still light up? Nope. 10 dollar fix. - Is the factory toolkit complete? Yes - Has the spare tire been replaced and maintained? Don't know who cares. - What condition are the tires and brakes in? Tires near new, front brakes replaced, rotors are fine. - Does the parking brake hold firm halfway through the lever's stroke? The parking brake works just fine who cares, easy adjustment anyway. - Have the windows ever fallen off track or regulator arms ever popped out of the plastic sliders? Nope, common problem though. - Do the mirrors have any bronzing around the edges? Nope - Does the factory airbox still have the sound deadening foam inside of it? Yes - Has the differential oil ever been changed? I don't know. Cheap job. - Have the brake and power steering fluids ever been flushed? Yes to brakes, I don't know about power steering. - Oxygen sensors replaced? Yes - Have the rear subframe bushings, rear trailing arm bushings, differential bushing, front control arm bushings, rear shock mounts, front strut bearings, ball joints and tie rods, cv boots ever been replaced? Alot of those components have been replaced, not exactly sure which ones. It handles solidly. - Original clutch? Yes, but if you don't drive the car like a moron the clutch will last a very long time. Clutch feels very solid. - Does the shifter have any slop in it? Ofcourse, minor slop, it has 100k on it. - A/C blow cold air? Yes - Heater blow hot air? Yes - Is the climate knob stiff or difficult to turn? No - Do the hatch struts hold when it's cold outside? Yes - Is the driver's lower seat bolster worn? Nope - Has the check engine light or SRS(airbag) light ever came on? No, otherwise it would indicate in the records. EVERY problem has been fixed at the dealer with this car. - Has the temperature gauge ever went above 12 o'clock? Ever, even for a few seconds? Jesus christ I don't know, not with me. - Was the factory radio harness cut to install the aftermarket radio or was an adapter harness used? Factory harness with aftermarket system. - Do you still have the factory radio? Yes - Are the plastic windshield cowl trim pieces grey, dry or cracking? No - How about the outside weather stripping at the base of the side windows, specifically above the door handles? Fine, it's been garaged. - Antenna grommet dry or cracked? Nope. - Do the windshield washer nozzles and mirrors heat up? Mirrors yes, I don't know about the nozzles. - Does the rear windshied washer nozzle spray? Yes - Is the rear parcel shelf faded or purple? Slightly faded, so what. - Are all 4 of the rubber jack pads still in place underneath the car? yes. - Is the the plastic underpanel and brake ducts still in place and intact attached to the front bumper? One needs adjusted. - Does the front bumper still have the "luxury" slats and if so are they cracked or damaged in any way? Yes and No. - Foglights cracked? No - Do you have pets? No - What do YOU consider a "Genuine BMW Enthusiast"? BMWCCA member? How many BMW's have you owned? I've owned 2 325's, a Z3, and this is my second ti. Not a member. This car is rare, and it's condition even more rare. Go searching, and when you find an M package in this condition let me know. You might find a few. Have a great day, I've already wasted too much time responding to this

Oh-- yes the door panels have been removed for the aftermarket install, but every clip that came off was jb welded to the panel and trust me after you do that they aren't coming off again. This is a common amateur hour thing where guys FUBAR the whole job when putting this back on.

That's funny because I thought he meant "Maintenance Code" for MX.

Thanks for clearing that up Jess, it is so much easier when you just spell it out and stop using acronyms. The old rule used to be that you spell out the word or phrase the first time it appears in your writing with the acronym in parentheses, and then use the acronym thereafter.

So I had to look it up and found the top 31 list of what does MX acronym stand for?

1) Mexico (Internet top level domain)
2) Matrix
3) Mail Exchange (record)
4) Maintenance
5) Motocross
6) Mexicana (airline code)
7) Mixer
8) Merry Christmas
9) Maxwell
10) Middlesex (English County)
11) Manx (cat breed; Isle of Man)
12) Multiplex
13) Montreal Exchange (Canada)
14) Mutually Exclusive (condition)
15) Compania Mexicana de Aviacion (IATA airline code)
16) Memory Expansion (AT&T)
17) Mexico/Mexican
18) Mechanized
19) Maximum Exposure (TV show)
20) Message Exchange (Nortel)
21) Methylxanthine
22) Maintenance Code
23) Master Agility Excellent (AKC title)
24) Mixed Xylene
25) Missile Experimental
26) Mode Exit
28) Metal-Halogen
29) Moment of Execution
30) Military Experimental
31) Mazda Experimental (Mazda)

By the way, nice car good luck with your sale!

You all might want to look on Autotrader at the 32 or so ti's on the market presently to get an idea of the car's valuation.
