I think they look great, so great in fact that I am thinking about doing the front and rear gray in black also. Has anyone else done this to their ti? | | | 06-04-2009, 12:39 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Burlington, NJ Posts: 560 | nope, previous owner did the same to mine. I ended up color matching front and rear and adding the lux side skirts. __________________ 1996 318ti - 2000 Z3 2.3 - 2012 MINI Cooper Hatchback | | | 06-04-2009, 03:31 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Nashville, TN Posts: 699 | Mine are painted that way. It looks fantastic! My car is Hellrot so the contrast is great. The gray was just so awful! I prepped all of the surfaces, sanded everything, cleaned with thinner again, primed with a sealer/primer and gave everything 3 coats of Rust-Oleum satin black. I didn't use a clear coat because I wanted the satin black finish. So far it is proving to be very tough. I just joined so I have no photos up yet. Black would look great with the Alpine white! | | | 06-04-2009, 10:57 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | PO did that to mine but the paints chipping off and i don't think he prepped them properly. All i gotta say is its all about the prep work, so mineral spirits them first and then use the right paint...
