Then eventually when the fabric can't hold the moisture, it drops onto the left side front corner of the drivers seat and right side front corner passenger seat...I'm guessing there might be a few seals broken under outside ring of the cali top...let me know if y'all have had any problems with this too | | | 11-06-2007, 11:35 PM | #2 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | if memory serves, there is a drain in each corner of the cali top. i took pics of the drain exit points in the rear of the car which are in my gallery. i would try to check to see if the drains are plugged and whether or not the seal is good. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 11-07-2007, 12:28 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Very common. Search my posts for multiple explanations of how to fix this. In short, silicone under the seals and clear your drain lines. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 11-07-2007, 11:04 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | agree with above i have removal instructions and repair tips if you need email me on lamp@cool.dk or PM me from in here __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! But if it sits over night in the rain, most of the time there is a small pool of water on the floor mats ( I have some of the rubber ones, so it just collects there until it's dry) I used to have it collecting and dripping on the window frames, but I cleared the drains and that doesn't happen anymore. I really don't know where this water could be coming from EXCEPT for the top. Is it possible one of the drains has a leak in it? It's almost like to get to where it is, it has to be squeezing in between the door meets the place that has the alarm light, etc..? | | | 02-22-2008, 05:45 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | From your other post it seems your top is not closing all the way because you say you can lift up one of the peaks and see into the car. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-22-2008, 06:28 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: North Carolina Posts: 157 | How would it pool on the mat though? I mean, it's practically right in front of the brake | | | 02-22-2008, 05:04 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | For some people it drips where the A pillar meets the roof, but other times it travels down thru the A pillar cover and drips onto the dash. I can only assume it is finding a way down thru the dash OR your drain vents (look like 3 small hood scoops pointing backwards on the bottom of the car under the clutch pedal roughly) are plugged and the water is building up and there is another leak somewhere down there. I have pics of how to seal the cali top and clear the drain lines, I'll post them this weekend. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
