Default 316i compact with m50b20

Hello boys and girls I'm Petko from Bulgaria Before 5 months ago i got my BMW Compact e36 1,6 95" it was like a normal bmw without interior or exterior changes but i started to make it like i want so it's time for engine change and i want to put m50b20 without vanos from e36 and i want to ask what i have to change to put it in my compact Thank you very much I will upload some photos tomorrow

welcome, look through the engine swap section for some more information but basically all you have to do is swap everything that's different between the two engine bays, having a whole donor car to get the engine out of is recommended

thank you very much for the answer but i need someone who did that before and to explain what he change and can i use my gear box from 1,6 ? Because before i had a e30 with m50b20 and it was with gearbox from m40 1,8 e36 so i think i can use my gearbox but bad will be that shifts will be very short so better to use the same for the engine.Thank you please if anybody know what i will need exactly for the transplantation and what is the electricity ?

you can use the original gearbox, it will bolt up and everything but I'd really recommend using the gearbox off the 6-cyl. since it's designed to handle the additional power

thank you again for the answer and yes techinically i can use mine but how long will be the life noone know because with my old e30 m50b20 for 1 month i start to hear a noise from the gearbox i think what will happened with this from 1,6 which is shorter .So i still wait for someone who will give me a info what i will need or most important is the electricity what is the combo ?

My understanding is the 318s to 325s use the same geabox. It's only the 328 and M3s that use the larger uprated gearbox. The original gearbox should be fine.
