Smile Door shenaniganz

Today, I replaced the seriously cracked door handle gaskets, pre-emptively lithium greased the window slider guides, and jb kwik weld-ed the door panel clips back in place. All in all, I feel like it was a pretty darn productive hour and a half/$15.

Aside for waiting for a few renewal parts for a swap in motor, changed the oil filter housing gasket, valve and o-rings as it looked like it had leaked at some point. Changed out the emission hoses with new silicone ones as the old ones had a few cracks in them. Swapped in a new WP as well.

Just waiting for the brown truck to show up with more stuff...

Default Relief...

Sold the Wayward Son's 318ti. Got an offer I couldn't refuse and waved it goodbye. Now I have the cash back in the pocket to repaint Hellrot #2 and finish it.

Got the engine/tranny/harness reassembled as one unit to drop in tomorrow.
  • New throwout bearing
  • Replaced leaking shift shaft seal
  • New slave cylinder
  • Replaced tranny mounts
  • Refilled the Getrag manual with Redline ATF
  • Inspected motor mounts. Intact.
  • Degreased the engine compartment
  • Replaced the rubber lower windshield trim under the wiper blades.
  • Replaced the microfilters
  • Replaced all shifter components as well as swapping in a Z3 1.9 shifter
  • Put the battery on a trickle charge to top it off

Stopped due to a light rain/thunderstorm this evening. Hope the weather holds up to complete the work tomorrow.

Refreshed my cooling system after a warning light came on last month with a heating concern. Looks like the water pump had been culprit for some time but with m minimum driving it was not showing symptoms.

Active Autowerke's awesome shop did it again.
  • New Stewart water pump
  • New High Performance AA Thermostat
  • New Belt Tensioner
  • New Belt Tensioner Pulley
  • Coolant flush.

Car runs like a champ and now I can rev with no worry of blowing my top.

Bought waterproof breathable car cover, going to wash car, dry off, and put cover on tonight.
Paints going to hell on top surfaces from the salt in the dew overnight each night, poor Greenie was always garaged before I bought it.
Summertime is my Victory v-92 SC time. Poor Greenie sits more in summer heat too.

Where you buy the cover and how much you pay for it

Finally picked up a 3 spoke airbag. Haven't really driven the Ti since last fall though. Just up and down the road once in a while to keep fluids moving.

Let my friend borrow it while his '00 323 is down...

Seriously considering a resto project. Cut out the cancer and build a bionic heart to transplant. Want a 6 in it, with a 6 speed but want OBD1 all the while I NEED close to 30mpg for work

I should probably just pull out the idea to get an old e21 or e30 as the long term project... I have a dream of triple webers on a lumpy m30 in an e30 coupe...

Yesterday I drove my 3 week old (to me) ti from Los Angeles to Tucson, AZ. All I had done was minor maintenance- cooling system flush, oil change, belt change. Car averaged 73 mph (above 4k almost the whole time), and did about 27 mpg while driving 490 miles. All with cold A/C! Although the compressor is making a terrifying noise.
