Default Door "closed" switch

Thanks for your advice in advance...

My Ti's interior lights intermitantly (sp?) come on when the car passes over bumps. This was no big deal, but now the switch turns on and off when the car is parked. As you may have guessed this causes the alarm to go off.

Do you fella's think spraying contact cleaner into the switch could help? The switch is either dirty or is coverd in lubricant , don't know for sure.

Thanks

Dave

i had a similar problem to the hatch switch....

what it was is that over 10 years of the hatch being slammed, there was an indention in the plastic moulding that was used to push the switch closed. so what happened is that the switch wasnt being pushed down enough...

to fix it, i purchased a 75 cent plastic expanding rivet from auto zone and drilled it into the plastic molding where the indention was...this raised the moulding up to ensure the switch was pushed down all the way...

im not sure if it would be the same with the door switch cause im not sure where it is exactly...

Default Good Thinking

I didnt think of it being mechanical like that, I assumed it was electrical.

The switch is located on the anchor the door latches too.

I'll try to rig something.............

THanks

Dave

yeah good point robcarync, reminds me, some kind of spring came loose in my trunk lock actuator which interferes with it closing--but only when parked uphill same blinking dome lite though!

As it turns out it is a mechanical problem. The button on the "door closed" switch is plastic. The latch that presses it is metal. The button is very slightly worn down, like 1/32-1/16".

I was thinking of beading epoxy or super glue onto the button to raise the clearence. But that seems as though it would wear down quickly too....for now electrical tape works LOL.

For about 3 months now mine have been flashing on and off over bumbs and sometimes when just driving along. I was thinking it was the rear hatch button, but i checked it out and it looks fine. I rarely drive at night and the past couple weeks when driving late i notice the lights flickering on and off. Looks like i got to investigate further..
