Default stock dash swap questions

im swapping in a black dash, to replace my gray dash tomorrow. i know where all the bolts, and screws are. i searched, and everything i found for 'dash swap' covered sedan dashes, not stock dash swaps.

today removed the glovebox, the under panels on the drivers side, the clock, radio.

ill be removing the gauge, bezel, gauge cluster, ac controls.

should i remove or do i have to remove the steering wheel?

i just want to know if there is any precautions i should take. i know i have to unhook the battery cables. i have a tendency to break things, thats why i am asking.

thanks in advance,
john

Remove the steering wheel before you remove the dash. Two torx screws secure the airbag (disconnect the battery) and the 16 mm bolt secures the steering wheel.

Your gonna need a breaker bar for the 16mm. I'd leave the battery disconnected for a good 20 minutes or so before unplugging the airbag. IIRC, you shouldn't have to remove the passenger airbag. Good luck with the swap, make sure to post a before and after pic. I did the same swap on my first ti. I hated to grey interior lol

yes plantanos, it does look much better. i couldn't take the gray. too dull for my taste but its too late for a before shot, but an after shot i can do!

ok. so i got the dash in after blowing 2 fuses somehow. my question is, how the crap do i get the dash underpanel (knee panel) back on. there are 3 clips that it 'should' just snap/pop back into. i tried for 2 hours with now luck. is there a trick or something?
