Have you done any work on the car recently or modified the intake?

got a p1511 code from bmw and they told me it was disa electrical and shouldnt hurt performance. It wont pass emissions cause of the check engine light. I guess I should replace the valve??? It's my first bmw..98 318ti. I love the car but it seems slow. It doesn't make any strange noises from the disa and seems to idle fine and accelerate smoothly..but there is not as much power as I feel there should be. The ford focus is faster....DANG.... any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah...your situation sounds kinda like mine also my first bmw/car also a 98, its an automatic though, i went to get my car inspected and failed...turned out i had 5 codes... and my cel bulb was missing so who knows how long it had been there for since i got it two years ago after replacing the valve i have to say i didn't really feel much of a difference its not cheap either...but i did pass emissions after getting rid of all the codes theres also a disa simulator that lpcapital made but i don't know much about it or if you should use it in this scenario...

If you have an unplugged wire near your intake and there is seemingly no wire leading to the DISA, this is likely your problem. If it is unplugged, it would definitely trigger the error code. Was it giving the error code before you took it in to get smogged?
