Engines only need spark and fuel to run. Check for fuel pressure. If you don't have access to fancy fuel pressure guage's, pull the injector rail with the injectors on it and point it in a bag or towards a rag (I DON'T SUGGEST THIS IN ANY WAY ITS VERY UNSAFE, it's an only if it's your last resort option to check) and then crank, see if it sprays fuel from the injectors, at least you'll know its getting fuel to the rail. If not that's your problem. If it is getting fuel then you need to check the fuel pressure.
