He made it very clear to me that the car he bought from Josh was pretty rusty and that the photos I saw on ebay didn't show the rust and wear as well as seeing the car in person. Josh didn't say much about the rust in his ebay ad, and didn't show any pictures of it. Shame on him. Needless to say, I would buy another car from A, but not from Josh based on what I've seen of the two ads.

A is sorta in love with his M3, and I think he just likes it better, especially since it is a lot like his CS but faster. I think he also needs to devote more money to his family (another reason to like having 4 doors) and the M3, and not spend it on the Club Sport. He isn't as mechanically inclined as some of us, and I think the repairs it needs are more than he can afford unless he can do a lot of the work himself.

The insurance appraisal is what it is. He was very reasonable and realistic about the car I bought from him, and didn't try to tell me it was worth more because of the appraisal. There's a good reason why insurance companies are in such tough times, and it's not only the forces of mother nature.

Josh didn't sell you the car, "A" did. And if this illiterate clown in Cali was so honest with you, why are you on here badmouthing Josh? Do you even know Josh or have any knowledge of the the car's history? Trust me, Josh didn't own the car long enough for the rust to appear. It's not his fault YOU bought a rust bucket. So instead of coming on here and pointing fingers at someone that you've never even met, that has nothing to do with YOUR mistake, stop and think about how ridiculous you sound. If you're not satisfied with the car's condition, take it up with the guy that sold it to YOU. It sounds like you have a good relationship with him already anyway. FWIW, Josh didn't neglect his car. The car came from somewhere back east and he lived in TX when he bought it. He only had it for a short time before he sold it to the guy who sold it to you, so blaming him for YOUR problems only makes you look like a sucker. If it's so bad, why did you buy it? Congrats on YOUR purchase, good luck with YOUR project, lol.

Hmmmm, maybe you folks who are so quick to complain should read what I wrote a bit more carefully....

I KNEW the car has rust, and the seller made it very clear that his pictures didn't make it look as bad as it is. I have no problems with that, and am very happy with the car.

I know Josh obviously didn't cause the rust, and that he bought it that way. He also can't be blamed for the wear and tear and lack of maintenance. I'm sure he probably tried to do his best with his budget, but the car really needed more.

But I do think there was a deliberate attempt to hide the rust issues that aren't very easy to see unless one looks under the car or in the corners of the front doors. I thought it odd that there was so little mention in the ebay ad. That alone screams buyer beware on an older car like this.

I like to think that we enthusiasts will try very hard to be honest and upfront with each other when it comes to our dealings with each other. If there's someone we can't trust, then it's good to know that as well. If there was additional documented communication between Josh and the buyer BEFORE the sale about the rust, then it would be very interesting to find that out and I will be happy to make apologies.

as said in a previous post to back my story up i did not sell this car on ebay i sold it on craigslist and posted it on ebay after jay decided to buy the car because he thought i wouldnt send it or wanted some sort of guarantee that i would send the car.

i spent hours on the phone with this guy and explained it all he knew i had rust and he knew of the problems.

a little mention i would like to include that i left out in the previous post was when he wanted to get a vehicle inspection i suggested taking it to bmw for the best inspection he said no to this because he only wanted to spend around 50 dollars on the inspection, so i went around looking for someone that would even do it that cheap, once i had it inspected i sent him the receipt with description of the problems. once he filed a complaint he tried to say he wanted me to take it to the bmw dealership and instead i sent him some receipt from a cheap shop that he thought i knew the owner of. lol

now tell me this, if he wanted a bmw dealer to do the inspection and thats what he agreed on but i went behind his back and got a cheap inspection why on earth would he still have the truck come pick up the car and be happy with me "cheating" him out of a proper inspection.

also if you look at my previous threads i have a giant thread dedicated to me spending 10 hours tearing the car apart cleaning the inside and trying to make this car as good as i could. the reason i sold was because of the rust and i didnt have the shop to park it in and time to put new sheets of metal into the car and properly fix the rust. but that was my plan from day one. i did what i could and i can promise you this cars shape has gone from pretty bad to a crap load better.

Vince;

I am glad to see that the clubsport is back in the hands of an enthusiast. I am also glad to see that you chose to become a member of our community. The members (with few exceptions) here are all dedicated to creating a knowledge base of immense proportions, and a family of ti lovers.

You have made it clear that you know what you bought and what condition it is in. Fine.

You also believe that the previous transactions were less than perfect. It's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

But, to come on the board and badmouth a previous owner, with whom you had no direct dealing with, and to insinuate that he was deceitful, reeks of sour grapes.

Josh has explained what transpired between him and "A", the story that was not told to you. Whether you want to believe that or not, is again up to you. I believe what Josh described.

At this point, I would hope that we can move on from this topic and on to subjects that will add to the discussion of how we improve, modify, and restore our cars for the benefit of all ti owners/members.

Josh doesn't need to explain himself to you or anyone on this forum FTM. What took place between him and the previous owner of your car is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Just as Jay's family affairs and finances ARE NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. It would appear that you have some sort of beef with Josh simply because of what one other guy told you. Keep in mind that there's two sides to every coin and I'm sure I don't need to say it again, but, IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! As for "people complaining" here, well take a look in the mirror. 5 of your whopping 10 posts here have been directed negatively towards one of our very well respected senior members. If your only intention is to come here to smear someone's name around and bring drama to the otherwise peaceful community, please go elsewhere. Perhaps the BF.c e36 forum would better suit your interests.

this is all true i hope you can realize everything you were told was not all that true and you continue to be a member here and share your stories with the club sport.

and if you ever need to know anything about it i would always be down to talk and possibly let you know all that i have done. hopefully jay gave you the folder with all the stuff i had on it and if you look in the owners manual zipper case you will see most of the receipts from the owner before me and some from me as well, although i didnt remember to put all my receipts in there i tried lol

Agreed... HOWEVER... if your intention is to learn about your car... get assistance with restoring it... help others with their problems... and contribute in a positive manner to this small community, I'm certain that I can speak for everyone here when I say "Welcome!"

See? He's a stand up guy around here and we're a great but tight knit group. Being a 'CCA member (like me) for 19 years you no doubt have some good stories and pics to share. My advice would be to make a proper introductory thread with lots of car porn... but that's just me.

I posted a lot on the thread about this in the For Sale forum. Jay didn't tell me anything about the inspection and I wonder if the inspection made it clear how rusty the car was. But, like others have said, enough's enough.

I did look through all Josh's previous posts back to before he bought the car, and I saw the thread he started about the car. Seeing how filthy it currently is inside and elsewhere, I'm afraid to imagine how bad it was when he bought it. And it's not dirt that happens in a few months, it's like a few little kids and their dog lived in it for a while, but strangely, it's in decent shape under all that "dirt". Mechanically, I need to get it on jackstands and go through some things as well. I washed it tonight.

Jay did send me the black owner's manual binder with receipts, and the envelope with all the articles and brochure. I was surprised he didn't think to keep some of them for himself. They're nice to have, and I appreciate Josh's keeping them with the car as well.

I start posting stories and pictures, I'm gonna get in trouble. And I don't know how to post pictures here...LOL.

Open up a photobucket account (it's free), upload your pics there... every picture will have an IMG code, you copy/paste that code here in the text box... and there it is... easy as pie!

glad to hear you got that from him, it sounds like jay must not have taken care of it or let his dogs ride in the back because i gave it a good cleansing before he got it, it was vacuumed and i washed the outside but it started raining the day it got picked up so im sure it didnt stay to clean on the outside.
