I just changed out the original Stabilus struts in my ti last year after a 15 year run. If I can get another 15 years out of the ones I installed, I'd say it was money well spent. The tuff supports went up too fast and slammed down way to hard. Went to dealership and got the stabilus ones. So much nicer now. | | | 02-06-2011, 08:17 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2011 Location: Long Island Posts: 16 | have speakers installed in the rear deck, will fresh stabilus keep the hatch up?? | | | 02-06-2011, 08:20 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by e24l6 have speakers installed in the rear deck, will fresh stabilus keep the hatch up?? | if they're just a couple 6x9s you should be good, I'm assuming you don't have 12" subs mounted in the deck or anything | | | 02-06-2011, 08:25 PM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2011 Location: Long Island Posts: 16 | two 10" haha jkjk. 6x9's but hatch will crash on my head if i don't hold it open. | | | 05-27-2011, 12:31 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: USA Posts: 6 | I was about to order some as well but it seems to stay up now. If they start to go out again ill have to pull out the trusty Louisville slugger to hold it up wile I wait for the new ones in the mail. | | | 05-27-2011, 01:08 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by RioT I was about to order some as well but it seems to stay up now. However, when the weather is warmer and the temperature, and therefore gas pressure, increases, they may work well enough to hold the hatch open. I assume that this is what you are experiencing. From a safety standpoint, I would still replace them ASAP. | | | 05-27-2011, 03:17 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Auburn, Alabama Posts: 206 | In the cold months, I just use the old Hockey stick to prop mine open | | | 05-27-2011, 03:34 AM | #14 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by RioT I was about to order some as well but it seems to stay up now. Make sure not to let it slam without any struts in place as doing so will almost certainly break the rear glass. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
