Posts: 16 | Video is in post #6 If the key matches the EWS unit it allows the contactor inside the EWS to energize allowing the starter to spin. At the same time the EWS sends a code to the DME allowing it to function. If the code doesn't match then the DME will not funtion. This pdf explains how the EWS functions http://www.e38.org/EWS.pdf Mine turned out to be an EWS III D | | | 09-29-2014, 01:45 AM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2014 Location: Hawaii Posts: 114 | Quote: Originally Posted by monko141 Video is in post #6 If the key matches the EWS unit it allows the contactor inside the EWS to energize allowing the starter to spin. I saw the radio system tied into the EWS, I am wondering if the radio code (missing code) makes the car will not start or shut off the DME to communicate with the car not to allowing to start? | | | 09-29-2014, 01:50 AM | #22 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | No, shouldn't | | | 09-29-2014, 10:03 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2014 Location: Hawaii Posts: 114 | Item #14 is the Crankshaft, Part # 12 14 1 247 622 | | | 09-29-2014, 10:04 PM | #24 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Yup, I replaced it | | | 09-29-2014, 10:08 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2014 Location: Hawaii Posts: 114 | The Part # for Crankshaft Sensor #14. | | | 09-29-2014, 10:16 PM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2014 Location: Hawaii Posts: 114 | Quote: Originally Posted by BMW_Hatchback Yup, I replaced it | So you replaced both the Cam Sensor and the Camshaft Sensor. Now, where is the Camshaft Sensor located at? The photo that you previously attached is that the Cam Sensor? | | | 09-29-2014, 10:24 PM | #27 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Yes, yes, and yes. By the way, there's a 12VDC input at the coil pack when turn-on the ignition switch to start. Hey guys, how odd that the coil pack going back all at one time? Right now, that's my only option I am heading. I appreciate all the comments. Thank you. | | | 10-13-2014, 03:14 AM | #30 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Camshaft is in front, crankshaft is in back near flywheel | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
