Default Shifting Issue

OK, This might sound a tad bit odd but I don't have to depress the clutch to go from second to third and third to fourth. Don't ask how I found this out, but I am sure this could be expensive. Right now it doesn't pop out of gear. I can do these shifts when just doing gentle driving, does anyone else have this? I had something like this when I had a CRX, then the clutch blew up. Anyone ever heard / experienced this?
Thanks,
Matt

The closest thing I've heard to what you're describing is a problem that some of these transmissions had where it would randomly pop out of second gear. That was due to a problem with the synchros. I don't know if worn synchros could also cause the problem you're experiencing, but to me this seems like more of a gearbox issue than a clutch issue. I'm sure someone else will chime in and correct that if it's wrong.

I was thinking that it might possibly be a synchro issue too. Does anyone have the tech specs on the 5 speed gearbox? If I remember correctly, lower gears have more synchros, 2 to 3 total per gear, than the higher gears, but that aside, wouldn't I be able to downshift without using the clutch? It only works on the up shift. Thank GOD it hasn't started to pop out of gear yet! BTW, Bullmand I am done moving, so when the weather clears up and if you are in town let me know what works best with you. My new house has a garage and that has me itching to do some work on the car

you can do that with any 5spd car given the proper RPMs...
i know i could do it with my Sunflower and with my Spec-V (60k> + brand new clutch, flywheel, etcetc) although i havn't done it in this car, nor do i plan on.

Im sure its not a good thing to do but it doesn't necassarily mean there is a problem, just quit doing it... lol

I'm at work everyday this week and next. I carpool most days, so just give me at least a day's notice so I can be sure to drive in.

Well, I have only done it twice. The first time was by accident, and the second to confirm it. I know that it isn't good for the tranny and trust me, I do not want to buy another gearbox.

It was a poorly forged shift fork.
