Glove box handle replacement help

Thought I would save a few bucks. I ordered the non locking glovebox flap which, based on part numbers, should fit my 98. The widths of the brackets in the back seem off and there are no holes to fit in the removable pins in the glovebox component (metal bar when the door).

I started my search based on this:

Here are some pics of the flap I removed. I made the mistake of throwing it away. In retrospect, I could of fixed it.

Does anyone have experience with tha part? Perhaps I have to buy the lockable one.
