Default Squealing AC

Ok, im assuming this is the place to post this, anyways....

My air conditioning every once in a while has this loooooong annoying squeal while it is on the 1st and 2nd power flow option, and sometimes on the 3rd. I dont know if something is lose, like the fan, or if it is a problem some ti's have had in the past. I have been able to just deal with it, but lately, especially now since it is heating up here in florida, it is damn annoying! Sometimes it doesnt always do it, but the moment I hit a little bump in the road it starts the noise again. Its almost like that sound of finger nails going down a chalk board (just to give you an idea on how horrible the noise is). My question is, has anyone had issues like this in the past with their BMW? Any advise on what to do? Like maybe if there is any DIY work I can do? I would appreciate it guys!

Thank you!

-Niki

lol yay 318th post...ya im a dork...

sometimes if the air flow is trapped, i.e. the blades in the directing fan are barely open, it will make that noise.. i replaced the opening valve on mine when i had audible squealing and it's fine.. i don't know if this is the same

did you go to the dealer or a mechanic to do that? Or did you do it yourself? Either way how much was it and how easy of a fix was it. That sounds like it might be my problem.

This could be a problem with the expansion valve.
It used to be a common problem.
We called it a growlling sound.

Moved to HVAC section.

Mine does it, but I just turn up the radio and it magically goes away.

I don't think it was a recall. I did have the expansion valve replaced under warranty back in 99.

the bad sound
that the clima produce in 1st and 2nd lever
became to a bearings on the little axis of air motor.

to resolve this problem
open the cover (in front of a car, under the glass...) and sprays olis
on bearings.
for 10 months the bad sound will disappear....
