The ABS light came on the other day. When i powered off and left for a little while and then started the ABS light is off but comes on after a 20-30kms. Any ideas where to start looking/troubleshooting.

I'd see if you can get someone to scan the ABS codes.

Could be any one of 4 ABS sensors at the very least.

I just finished working through the ASC/ABS light issues and finally resolved everything by replacing ALL sensors (where located) on ALL four wheels. I checked all control units and switches and relays etc. and it came down to the left rear ASC sensor was bad (which I replaced after BMW scanned it and said it needed to be replaced. The sensor I used was a BMW sensor that was bad.) BMW scanned and replaced the left rear and it works perfectly now. I think the ASC is goofy and i wouldn't care if it worked or not, but I wanted the ABS working as this is the car my daughter drives. I am not sure if this helps anyone, but I thought I'd get it out there.
