http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=853296 -- you can put the coils on your plugs if that's your thing

I say you try it Bobby, it looks nice and it sounds like it works good. Keep us posted.

i saw that before but i dont understand it. the original ignition goes from the plugs to the 4 ignition wires then the rectangular coil thing right? if i got that bracket and the bigger plugs off an E46 (i think) then would i need a e46 retangular coil thing too

No. There is no multi-coil pack in a COP ignition system. The coil is the thing that is sitting directly on the sparkplug. The wiring goes straight from the ECU/electrical system into the individual coil, the ECU tells it to spark, and the coil generates a spark directly into the spark plug.

There are no spark plug wires.. Just little connectors between the end of the coil and the sparkplug.

You would end up removing the existing coil pack(rectangular thing with four spark plug connectors), cutting off the plug that goes into the old coil pack, and then wire up each individual coil. A wiring diagram was posted on here, as well as information about using an older wiring harness to do the custom wiring.

now what exactly is it suppose to do? allow a better connection b/w for the coilpacks to the spark plugs??
i just a headache cuz thats too much info that i was reading in a little amount of time. looks complicated but i think bobby will be able to figure it out pretty easily.

http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20823

There is the wiring diagram.. 1 ground, 1 power, and then 1 "pulse" wire for each individual coil. They share power and ground, and then there is just a gate that opens when the other individual wire has current from the ECU.
