Default PowerFlex control arm bushings

purchased a set of Powerflex E30/E36 3 Series Control Arm Bushing's. They work well and do not compromise the ride quality. problem is I had to have them machined to fit properly over the Control Arms. They would not slide forward enough to make it possible to rebolt the Bushing brackets. They were off by quite a bit and yes... they are installed properly. Anyone else run into this???

BTW, they are very easy to install otherwise.

I didn't have any problems getting them on my E30. I need to get pictures of them for this thread.

Thanks, DustenT. I actually meant pictures of them on the car, but this is good too.

I installed them on an E46 with no issues. I did have to put a bit of assembly lube on the inside of the bushing and push like hell to get them to go on, but they went on.

Here are those installed pictures I promised. Sorry they're a little grainy. I used my phone. Should be good enough to see most of the details.

well well... The pics you have on there Bullmand is a different design over the ones I have. The bushings you have are a well engineered bits, much better then mine. I think I purchased mine from Bimmerworld. I ordered another set form AKG Engineering and will try their design out. The ones I have are working, but the passenger side inner is already splitting. I can see it splitting on the casting seam. Oh well... I'm moving on...

Yeah, that seems to be a unique design in the BMW control arm bushing world. So far they seem to be working as advertised. We've been running the car pretty hard at recent autocrosses (4 different people drove it last time) and everything is holding together and doesn't appear to have any excessive wear and tear. Except the tires I will say that they were MUCH easier to install than it was to get the old ones out. There's no metal ring around them like the stock ones and we just wet them and popped them in with a vise.

Edit: I just read your original post again to see that you also have the Powerflex bushings. Are yours the centered ones? These are the offset type and that could explain the different appearance. From pictures I've seen the centered ones are a one piece design.
