Any close-ups with what you were able to fit onto your ti in place? I guess I would need to check to make sure that I can get the bolts out on my car (wife takes it to work). I have the cali top so the pics would help me visualize if it'll fit without any issues. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 07-26-2012, 08:51 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | I'm interested as well if Eric passes on them. They explain it better than anything. Basically, you pull back the rubber above the opened doors on either side and you will find two bolts on each side. You will need only one bolt on each side to connect to the thule foot. I wanted either both fronts or both backs to connect to. I got the front one on one side and the back one on the other side out, but I could not get either of the other ones out. So you should check and make sure you can get the bolts out. Either the front ones on both sides, or the back ones on both sides. The load bars are not included, you would still need to purchase those. __________________ Last edited by fieldhb; 07-27-2012 at 04:06 PM. I believe the mount (fit kit) goes over the outer bolt head (for lack of a better word) of the front bolt on the car and then is pulled up and bolts/connects to the foot. This (imho) is what the instructions are showing. It would be nice if they had some damn words there to explain it along with the pictures. Is the hole in the fit kit for the front position on the car big enough to go over the bolt (that's part of the car)? It's hard to tell from the photo. If so, then I think your kit works and will fit on your car fine. I really don't believe those bolts are meant to come out. I tried and was only able to do a partial turn. I looked at my stock BMW mounts and they just slide into place and then have a set screw to lock them into place. It would seem Thule is likely doing something similar. The back mount appears to just be a lip that goes underneath the rear frame (just above the rear window). This is also similar to the stock BMW mount. Do you want to try fitting it to your car again? I'm guessing it will fit/work. If you still want to sell them, I'd would like to purchase them. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel Last edited by cali-ti; 07-29-2012 at 02:55 AM. | | | 07-30-2012, 09:09 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Westerville Ohio Posts: 51 | Gee how embarrassing. You are absolutely correct. They do not have to come out. I never even tried to just fit them over. I have a thule rack on my truck now, so I will not be using my bmw for hauling stuff anyway. So yes, it is still for sale. I have the bike carriers also that fit on the load bars. Let me know if you are interested in these. The bike carriers are a bit beat up as I had them on a Mazda Mx-3 for many years. __________________ | | | 07-30-2012, 11:08 PM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | I'll PM you shortly. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 08-04-2012, 01:38 AM | #10 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Westerville Ohio Posts: 51 | Sold. PM me if anyone's interested. Edit; Sold! Thanks Rich, sent it out yesterday via priority mail, you should get it tomorrow.
