Default which selector rod with SSK?

I recently instralled a short shift kit in my ti.
The donor was an m3.
Refer to the attached file
I installed items 5 and 9 from the m3
I installed items 7,10, and 11 new.

I love the action, but it appears the shift lever is in the wrong spot. Too far back and a little too far to the right.
Anyone have this experience?
I was thinking about installing the original selector rod (item 9).
Anyone have some advice for me?
Thanks

I installed the M-Z3 shifter, and replaced the exact same part#s. You need to bend the selector rod to get the shifter where you want. All you need is a benzo-matic torch and a vise. Bend it, and put back in till you get the correct alignment.

I heard that you have to bend the rod.
But the M3 rod was already bent... roughly in the middle.
My ti rod was also bent, but very close to the connection to the transmission. The distance between the pins connected to the rod was about 20mm different; the ti rod being longer.
I thought bending the rod was to create clearance to the driveshaft, not to put the shifter in th right spot. But I can see that it would do that, too.

I bent the rod in the rear to clear the drive shaft. Then I twisted the rod to get the shifter in the center.

The M3 selector rod is 195mm(too short) the Ti is 225mm.

A M3 or any other 3ser will not work(I tried a 325i Weighted Selector Rod from Rogue and it didn't work)

Thanks for the input. I think I'll clean up my old selector rod and see how it fits. Then I'll bend it and twist it to get things to clear and center where I like it. Maybe I'll do the low cost weighted mod from understeer

True. I filled mine with lead. Fired up the cutting torch and melted it into the hollow rod.

Rogue Engineering WSR vs stock Ti's(longer and dirtier)

you can see the differance.

although if RE made thier WSR for the 318, I'd prob buy one, they are just cool.

So funny... My selector rod was dirty, too.

I added the 2nd bend... bead blasted, then painted the selector rod (for rust inhibitor)
Then I added 2 layers of solder to get the weight up. Covered the solder with electrical taps and she's ready to go. I'll install it in the morning.
It was originally 214mm, now it's 210mm. What do you think?

I understand the idea behind adding the weight, but why do you feel it's needed? I like the fact that my shifter is stiff, it keeps the slop out.
